Southampton Man Charged After Reported Tool Theft from Ringwood Vehicle

A 19 year old man from Southampton has been charged in connection with a reported theft from a vehicle in Ringwood.

Archie McCann, of Gordon Avenue, is accused of stealing tools and other items from a vehicle on Castleman Way on Monday 1 September. He has been charged with theft from a motor vehicle.

McCann is due to appear before Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 10 March 2026, where he will face the allegation.

Police are urging residents to remain alert, especially during the autumn and winter months, when vehicle crime tends to increase. Officers continue to encourage the public to report any suspicious activity as soon as possible.

Crime Prevention Advice

Hampshire Police are reminding motorists to take simple precautions to reduce their risk of becoming victims of vehicle crime:
• Always lock vehicles and remove valuables, including bags, coats, coins, and electronics.
• For keyless entry cars, store keys in a Faraday pouch to block signal copying.
• Keep driveways and entrances well-lit, ideally with motion-activated lighting.
• Avoid leaving keys, handbags, or other valuables near doors or windows.
• Consider installing CCTV or video doorbells to deter opportunist thieves.

Residents are also encouraged to register valuable items such as tools, bicycles, and electronics on www.immobilise.com — a free national property database that helps police identify and return stolen goods.
