Man Stabbed and Woman Injured in Late-Night Assault in Southampton

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Southampton late last night (Monday 7 July), which left a man with a stab wound and a woman injured after being struck with a glass bottle.

Officers were called to Gatwick Close at around 11:30pm, after reports of an altercation involving multiple individuals. Emergency services responded quickly to the scene.

During the incident, a man in his 20s sustained a stab wound to his back. He was taken to hospital for treatment; however, his injuries were confirmed not to be life-threatening or life-changing, and he has since been discharged.

A 20 year old man from Southampton has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He remains in police custody as enquiries continue.

A second victim, a woman in her 30s, was struck over the head with a glass bottle. Fortunately, she did not require hospital treatment.

An 18 year old woman, also from Southampton, has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in connection with the incident. She also remains in custody at this time.

Police Appeal for Information

Officers have been conducting enquiries in the area throughout the day and are now urging anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have relevant information to come forward.
