Man charged following investigation into online sexual messages to child

A man has been charged after police investigated reports of sexually explicit messages sent online to a person believed to be a child.

Officers were called to an address in Alma Road after receiving information that a man had been sending sexualised messages online to someone he believed was a child.

Following enquiries carried out while the suspect was in custody, police charged Adel Khalaf, 40, of Alma Road, with attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and attempting to cause a child to watch or look at an image of sexual activity.

Khalaf has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court today (3 February).
