Man Arrested Following Indecent Exposure Incident in Watts Park
Date: 3 July, 2025
A 67 year old man has been arrested after a woman reported an incident of indecent exposure in Watts Park on Tuesday morning.
Police were called to the scene at around 9:15am after a woman claimed that a man had exposed himself to her while she was in the park. Visibly distressed, she approached a nearby passerby for help, and together they contacted authorities.
Officers responded swiftly, securing the area and gathering evidence. CCTV footage from the vicinity helped police identify a suspect, who was located and arrested shortly afterwards on suspicion of exposure.
The man, a Southampton resident, has since been released on bail under strict conditions while the investigation remains ongoing. Police have confirmed that his behaviour will be closely monitored as enquiries continue.
This incident comes amid an increased police presence in city parks during the summer months, with targeted patrols aimed at preventing anti-social behaviour and offences such as indecent exposure.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said:
“Throughout the summer, we have been conducting patrols across the parks, with a particular focus on offences such as this one. If you do see anything suspicious or something which raises concern, then please report this as our teams are out and we will take action.”
