Havant Man Faces Court Over Historic Child Sex Offence Charges

A 63 year old man from Havant is set to appear in court today (17 July) to face a number of serious child sex offence charges dating back nearly two decades.

Alastair Wilcockson, of Castle Avenue, is scheduled to appear before Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court, where he will answer to multiple allegations of sexual abuse involving a girl under the age of 14.

The charges Wilcockson faces include:
• Indecent assault on a girl under 14
• Sexual assault of a girl under 13 by touching
• Sexual assault of a girl under 13 by penetration
• Three counts of sexual assault

According to police, the alleged offences took place in Hampshire between 2004 and 2012. The victim, who was known to Wilcockson, was reportedly under the age of 14 at the time the offences are said to have occurred.

Authorities are encouraging anyone affected by child sexual abuse, whether recently or in the past, to come forward.

A Hampshire Police spokesperson said:
“We take all reports of child sexual abuse extremely seriously. We urge anyone who has experienced abuse or has information that could help with investigations to contact us in confidence.”
