Hampshire Police Seize Second Vehicle in Crackdown on Dangerous Driving Linked to Car Meets

Hampshire Police have seized another vehicle as part of an ongoing crackdown on dangerous driving connected to illegal car meets affecting communities across the county. The latest operation saw the Roads Policing Unit travel to Slough on Wednesday evening, where officers located and impounded a vehicle suspected of being involved in drifting and other dangerous driving activities.

The seizure follows a similar operation in London earlier this week, as officers continue to pursue individuals believed to be contributing to disorder and road safety risks at organised car gatherings. Police say the coordinated action demonstrates their determination to target offenders even when they are located outside Hampshire.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said the force would “continue to use all available legislative powers” to tackle serious driving offences. This includes seeking retention and deprivation orders—legal measures that allow police to keep or permanently remove vehicles used in dangerous or unlawful driving.

“This latest seizure is part of our continued work to identify offenders, disrupt illegal meets, and keep our roads safe,” the spokesperson added.

The driver involved in the Slough seizure is now under investigation. Police say removing the vehicle prevents any further potential for dangerous driving while enquiries continue.

Officers also thanked members of the public for continuing to report incidents linked to car meets and street racing. Information from witnesses and local residents, they said, has played a key role in helping them target offenders and protect affected communities.

The enforcement activity forms part of Operation Dispense, Hampshire Police’s focused initiative aimed at tackling dangerous and antisocial driving across the region.
