Footballer Loses Leg After Drink-Driver Crashes Into His Car on M27

A drink-driver has been jailed after a footballer lost his leg in a serious crash on the M27.

Police were called at 10.25pm on Saturday 1 February 2025 following a collision involving a Mercedes and a VW Golf that had been pulled over onto the hard shoulder. Footballer Jordan Chiedozie was inspecting a flat tyre on the Golf when the Mercedes struck his vehicle.

The court heard that Chiedozie’s injuries were so severe that he lost a leg and had to be placed into an induced coma.

The driver of the Mercedes, 45-year-old Anna Malgorzata Bogusiewicz, of Park Avenue in Wraysbury, Berkshire, was charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink-driving.

Today (23 January), at Southampton Crown Court, she was sentenced to 28 months imprisonment. She will also be disqualified from driving for three years after her release and must pass an extended driving test before being allowed back behind the wheel.

Detective Constable Joy Jarvis said: “There is absolutely no excuse for getting behind the wheel of any vehicle when you are impaired from drinking alcohol. This terrible collision, which has changed a man’s life, could have easily been avoided if the defendant hadn’t made that selfish decision to drive while drunk.”

The case highlights the devastating consequences of drink-driving and the lasting impact it can have on victims and their families.
