Firefighters Rescue Man Stuck in Mud Near Totton Bypass

Firefighters from across Hampshire were called out last week after a man became trapped knee-deep in mud near the Totton bypass.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said crews were alerted shortly after 11am on Thursday, 13 November, following reports of a man stuck up to his knees in mud.

Specialist water and mud rescue teams from Redbridge, St Mary’s, Fareham and Cosham used equipment to reach the man. He was safely freed and handed over to South Central Ambulance Service paramedics to be treated for minor injuries.

The incident was brought to a close at 12:29pm.

The service urged people to be cautious when out near tidal or muddy areas, reminding the public to “stay on footpaths, follow warning signs, be aware of tide times and take a phone.”
