Dangerous M27 Pursuit Ends in Safe Arrest After Tactical Police Intervention
A van driver has been arrested after a high-risk pursuit on the M27 yesterday afternoon (19 November), Hampshire and Isle of Wight Roads Policing Unit (RPU) confirmed.
Officers received several reports of a van being driven dangerously along the motorway. RPU units located the vehicle shortly afterward, but the driver refused to stop, prompting a pursuit.
Police say the driver’s behaviour quickly escalated, creating a serious risk to other motorists. As the situation developed, specially trained officers assessed that authorised tactical measures were necessary to bring the incident to an end safely.
Tactical contact was deployed on the motorway, stopping the van before any injuries were reported.
The driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving, drug-related offences, and impairment.
