£20 Million Pride in Place Investment Announced for Southampton Neighbourhoods
Neighbourhoods in Southampton are set to benefit from up to £20 million in long-term regeneration funding following a Government announcement in September 2025.
The investment will be delivered over the next decade through the Pride in Place Programme (PiPP) — a flagship national initiative designed to transform communities through locally led decision-making and sustained financial support.
The Southampton areas selected for funding are:
• Redbridge and Millbrook West
• Weston

Community-Led Regeneration at the Heart of the Programme
The Pride in Place Programme will provide significant 10-year investment to drive community-led regeneration across hundreds of neighbourhoods nationwide. The initiative aims to empower residents, businesses and voluntary groups to take the lead in shaping improvements to their local areas.
Its objectives include:
• Creating vibrant, safe and inclusive neighbourhoods
• Boosting local pride
• Supporting economic growth
A key feature of the programme will be the establishment of a Neighbourhood Board in each area. These boards will determine how funding is allocated locally and will be chaired by an independent leader.
Board membership will include:
• Residents
• Local businesses
• Civil society and community organisations
The boards will work in partnership with the council, the local MP and wider community stakeholders to ensure decisions reflect local priorities.

Recruitment Now Open for Neighbourhood Board Chairs
Recruitment is now underway for Neighbourhood Board Chairs.
The role involves:
• Leading the board
• Overseeing investment decisions
• Ensuring the programme remains community-focused and transparent
The Government has positioned the programme as a long-term commitment to neighbourhood renewal, with strong local leadership at its core.

Additional Funding Through the Pride in Place Impact Fund
Alongside PiPP, the wider Southampton area will also benefit from the Pride in Place Impact Fund (PiPIF).
The Impact Fund is a capital programme due to be delivered by March 2027. It will support shorter-term, visible improvements aimed at:
• Restoring pride in place
• Strengthening community cohesion
• Stimulating local economic activity
Together, the two funding streams are expected to deliver both immediate improvements and sustained long-term regeneration to the selected Southampton neighbourhoods.
