Man Charged Over Series of Shop Thefts in Southampton

A 37-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences following a series of reported shop thefts in Southampton.

James Barry Daniel McMurray, of Shirley Road, has been charged with six counts of theft from a shop after police investigated reports of repeated shoplifting incidents earlier this month.

The charges relate to six incidents said to have taken place at a convenience store on Parkville Road between 1 and 10 March. During the reported thefts, approximately £420 worth of goods — including meat, chocolate, laundry products and other items — were stolen.

McMurray is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court today (17 March), where the case will be heard.
