Police Seize Stolen Cars, Machinery and Cash as Two Charged in Hampshire Theft Investigation

Two men have been charged following a series of police warrants linked to an investigation into vehicle and plant thefts across Hampshire.

Officers from the Serious Organised Crime Unit at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary executed search warrants on Tuesday, 10 March, at a site on Romsey Road in East Wellow, as well as at addresses in Totton and Southampton.

During the searches, police seized multiple stolen vehicles, including high-end cars, motorbikes, a panel-sided van and a caravan. Officers also recovered stolen plant machinery and trailers, along with a quantity of counterfeit cash and suspected cannabis.

Ricky Severn, 39, of Croydon Close in Southampton, and Simon Leon Marszall, 41, of Harwood Close in Totton, have been charged with conspiracy to steal.

The charges relate to several incidents across the region, including the attempted theft of a vehicle from a Volkswagen dealership in Chichester on 30 May 2025, the theft of a Mercedes from a dealership near Southampton Airport on 31 May 2025, a commercial burglary at an electrical substation in New Milton on 16 July 2025, and the attempted theft of a vehicle from a Toyota dealership in Waterlooville on 5 August 2025.

Both men appeared before Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 11 March. They were released on conditional bail while the case continues.

Police say their investigation into the additional stolen items recovered during the warrants remains ongoing.
