Southampton Man Charged in Series of Burglaries
A Southampton man has been charged following a string of burglaries across the city.
Joseph James Flaherty, 37, of Malmesbury Road, faces three counts of burglary after incidents reported between November and March, in which businesses were targeted by smashing glass door panels.
The first reported incident occurred on 3 November at Slug & Lettuce, where alcohol valued between £200 and £400 was stolen. On 23 January, Premier Hair Plus suffered damage and theft totaling almost £7,000.
Flaherty was apprehended on 4 March at PDSA Vets after officers responded to an intruder alarm and found him hiding behind the reception desk.
He appeared at Southampton Magistrates’ Court on 6 March, where he was remanded in custody. He is due to appear again at the court on 27 March.
